Ethical conduct feeds through to the bottom line

Although Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a relatively new concept, its contents are not new to us. Behaving decently towards employees, customers and the community in general has been inherent to TrygVesta’s everyday operations as far back as I can remember.

Although Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a relatively new concept, its contents are not new to us. Behaving decently towards employees, customers and the community in general has been inherent to TrygVesta’s everyday operations as far back as I can remember.

Behaving decently always pays off in the long run and also yields the best financial results. For that reason alone, there is every reason to take a positive view of CSR. A company’s attitude to climate and the environment plays a major role in CSR, and we have therefore dedicated extra focus to this part of CSR.

At the same time, climate issues directly affect our everyday operations as an insurer. If climate changes produce more windstorms, more and heavier rain or flooding, it affects us either through the amounts we have to pay out or through the price of reinsurance.

At TrygVesta, we have only just embarked on our climate efforts, and we have no ready-made solution nor do we have any big plans for how to tackle the challenges.

On the other hand, I am convinced that merely by acknowledging this challenge, we have started a movement aimed at finding sustainable solutions also in this area.

The knowledge gained will be made available to our customers. Climate issues should be raised as a natural part of our peace-of-mind delivery and advisory services. Very often, we will see risks curbed as an extra advantage of responsible climate behaviour.

We must therefore constantly keep in mind the climate challenge when working with assessing and pricing risk and creating peace-of-mind for our customers. In that way, the right decisions will come to us naturally, also in climate issues.
